Donna Morehead's Story

"As a result of the education that the foundation provided, I was able to create a process change that drastically reduced the number of unit acquired pressure ulcers in the Intensive Care Unit.
This subsequently developed a new process for bedside reporting that has not only changed the process for ICU, but for all of the units at Baylor Health Care System. This has slowly spread across the United States and according to The Advisory Board Company this process has now started in Europe.”
~Donna Morehead, BSN, RN, ICU/Dialysis Nurse Manager

Nurses and allied health staff members (e.g. pharmacists, physical therapists and radiology employees) at Baylor Irving care for more than 110,000 patients every year.
The Staff Education Fund pays for certification courses and exams, seminars, workshops, and (in limited instances) tuition for advanced degrees. Advanced learning results in enhanced care for the patients who trust their lives and health to the caregivers at Baylor's only nonprofit hospital.
The hospital has committed all of its dollars remaining after expenses this business year to facilities improvement and to the cost of charity patient care. Philanthropy is the only source of funds needed for staff education of the hospital’s staff each year. Irving Healthcare Foundation needs to raise $55,000 this year to meet Baylor Irving's need for continuing staff education. For more information, contact John Drake at 972-579-4391 or
