MissionIrving Healthcare Foundation makes people healthier by awarding funds raised and encouraging volunteer service to worthy local nonprofit healthcare organizations. VisionIrving Healthcare Foundation's vision is a healthier Irving, Texas. Our HistoryCivic leaders established Irving Healthcare Foundation (IHF) as a public charity in 1977 to raise funds for nonprofit healthcare in Irving. To date, more than $30 million has been disbursed to our nonprofit beneficiaries. Our primary recipient is Baylor Medical Center at Irving (formerly Irving Community Hospital). Since 1977, philanthropic funds raised during campaigns have helped Irving's only nonprofit hospital to meet Irving's medical needs. The foundation also has conducted fund drives to build intensive and cardiac care units and to expand the hospital's emergency department. Millions of dollars worth of new equipment has been purchased with funds raised by IHF, as well. The foundation also supports therapy for children with medical needs at Our Children's House at Baylor in Irving. In 2006, Irving Interfaith Clinic opened to provide low-cost and free primary medical care to indigent patients. Staffed two nights each week by volunteer physicians and nurses, this clinic is totally funded through philanthropy secured by IHF. In 2008, Irving Dental Center became our foundation’s fourth grant recipient, receiving funds to equip two dental stations and to provide care for children at the city’s first dental clinic for needy patients. In 2009, IHF began seeking gifts for a collaborative effort of five Irving agencies to battle obesity in children and families who live in our city as part of the Childhood Obesity Task Force. |
